our story
Nashville native, Ginny (on right), started building and refinishing furniture in her garage following a quarter-life crisis. Needing a place to sell her furniture, she snagged a spot at the Nashville Flea Market (before the flea market was a happening spot). She needed to accessorize her newly built and refreshed pieces, so she started picking for vintage items. Over the next 10 months, the flea market proved successful, so she started selling in an antique shop in Nolensville, TN. Selling out every couple of weeks for close to a year, she decided to roll the dice and open up her first shop in Nashville. Bailey (on left) a California native/Ohio transplant, studied design and worked for Nordstrom for six years before joining the OAK family in 2017.
Working together, Ginny and Bailey have created the brand people know today. Ginny brings a more masculine vibe to the brand while Bailey brings a lighter, more feminine touch. "Our business is at its best when we're working together on everything," Ginny explains. Aside from Ginny and Bailey, there is a team of incredible women supporting the four divisions of OAK (two brick and mortars, design, wholesale and custom gifts). "We are a true family. It took a village to get us to where we're at today and it will take a village to help get us to where we are going," Bailey expresses.
At the end of the day, we're here to help people reimagine their spaces and redefine how they live in them. Home is the most important and meaningful place we will ever experience in our lifetime. We raise families in them, invite friends and community in, we celebrate and we mourn in them and they should be the place we want to be at most. Whether a tiny house or a mansion, your space should feel like you. It should be your sanctuary and surrounded by pieces that speak to who you are and what you love. If we can be any part of that, then we are doing what we love and achieving our goal of why we started this business.
